A series of photographs taken by Hugo Cohen in New Orleans, documenting the Second Line parades tradition—consisting originally of the people who follow the “main line” of the parade to enjoy the music and dance, the community-based “second line” developed as a particular style of an African-based, free-form style of dance and dressing, with the use of parasols and handkerchiefs. Printed in Risograph the vivid hues of Cohen’s photographs highlight the exuberance of the parade.
