"Henri Salesse, Enquêtes photographiques" is the unedited presentation of a remarkable commissioned work carried out by Henri Salesse, a photographer employed by the Ministry of Reconstruction and Urban Planning (M.R.U.). With these two photographic campaigns ("Taudis" - Rouen, 1951 and "Enquête sociologique pour le Musée de l'homme" - Petit-Quevilly, 1952) carried out at the request of the M.R.U.'s Centre d'études en charge de "l'habitat défectueux", the photographer delivers a collection of exceptional quality on the working-class neighborhoods of the two cities. This rediscovery of Henri Salesse's photographs is an opportunity to verify the interest and quality of this "grey" photography (administrative, institutional or industrial) which remains the "submerged part" of the history of photography.
