"One step outside my door, and my adventure began. What sights lie beyond his world in which [live? Like the infinity of a blank pase when one contemplates what to write, the world was expanding before my eyes. As I recall, I began thinking of how to talk about the world as the twenty-first century was about to dawn. Like an observer, I watched time ticking away as the new century approached, and I took up my camera to begin recording the scenes that spread across the world.
For me, the sights of the world open over the shoulders of another person. The people I met at each place are the very key to my memory for retelling the journey. When I recall the world I saw with the memories brought home, the world returns to me through the people I met at the various places. In other words, my journey was recorded and my world was formed not by traveling from "place" to "place" like Tokyo to Shanghai, but by spinning the threads of "you" to "you" encounters with people."
