Eiko Yamazawa, one of the pioneers of female photography in Japan, studied photography after graduating from Joshibi University of Art and Design. Upon returning to Japan, she opened a photo studio in the Dojima Building in Osaka. After graduation, she primarily focused on commercial and portrait photography but retired from commercial work in 1960.
This book is a collection of photographs taken during the six months she spent in the United States in 1955, featuring abstract works in color photography, a style she had been interested in since that time. A retrospective titled "Eiko Yamazawa: What I Am Doing" was held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum from November 2019 to January 2020.
