Heir to the Viennese Jugendstil and Pictorialism, the photography of Rudolf Koppitz (1884-1936) magnifies the body in movement, in elegant compositions imbued with spirituality. At the same time, Koppitz developed a ‘Germanic’ aesthetic, a ‘patriotic photography’ in which the future canons of National Socialist art were revealed at an early stage.
