New edition of "PUNK ROCK IN LONDON" published in 1979.
Satomi Nihongi captured the raw energy and unfiltered essence of London’ s punk scene from 1977 to 1979, Satomi’s work documents the spirit of a generation and a city in the throes of political and musical upheaval.
With a close and intimate gaze, 30-years-old Satomi captured the vibrant fashion, uncompromising attitudes, and dynamic interactions between performers and fans.
On the contrary to the original 1979 edition published by Bronze Publishing, this new edition brings fresh insight and authenticity, reflecting Satomi’ s true vision, as the original release was edited without her involvement and focused primarily on historical documentation.
PUNK ROCK IN LONDON presents a historical record enriched with Satomi’ s personal insights, including the photographer's spontaneous impulse to turn her lens toward the raw energy around her.
The book includes a unique collection of collages combining original air letters from the time with vintage prints. Among the vivid, candid images are legendary figures such as Sid Vicious in his post-Sex Pistols era, Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop, Genesis P-Orridge, and members of Suicide, reflecting the explosive cultural climate that defined the punk movement.
