This beautiful portfolio shows a series of highly coloured photographs of young american "independent student" photographers of the fifties. Each photographer, avant-garde artist, developed his own way of doing photography, using different processes (serigraphy, typography, silver gelatin print, print on tracing paper,...). Among them, some who would later become renowed artists : Ray Metzker, Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind and more.

A portfolio of loose photo-illustrations (some mounted, some on folded sheets), on various paperstock, 330 x 270 mm. Some illustrations have printed tissue or acetate overlays. First edition, 1957. Text in English. Design by G. Mansolas, Ray Metzker and T.Rago. Includes one original black and white silver print (by H. Callahan) mounted on card stock. some wears to the covers. EXTREMELY SCARCE!!
