Excerpt from the text by Lukasz Zaremba: "As we crack open Bartek Warzecha / Performances, it quickly becomes apparent that, conscious of all these entanglements, Warzecha's photographic statement does not limit itself to critiques of such structures of representation. So we hold in our hands an atlas which refuses to sidestep the biggest traps laid within hegemonic visual languages for presenting the world. Nor does it serve simply to subvert the perspectives and views we have grown overly accustomed to. The proposition is not to abandon stargazing, but rather to seek together conditions for the creation of competing models for mapping -- and therefore comprehending -- the universe. Not only does the process not take place in a vacuum, drawing as it does on existing theatrical situations, but it unfolds as a dialogue between two mediums that generally function subject to a hierarchical relationship (photography for documentation of the performance, to which it is secondary; alternatively, photography, and more often video, may be seen as an ancillary participant in the performance) or in outright competition with each other when they are seen as two opposing 'scopic' regimes or visual orders."
distinction at GRAND PRESS PHOTO in the Photo Book of the Year 2021 category and at FOTOFESTIWAL in the competition for the Photographic Publication of the Year 2021.
The design for this publication, done by Ania Nałęcka-Milach at Tapir Book Design, uniquely combines a booklet on the left and a book on the right, with hot pink pages folding in both directions to reveal texts and more images.
