Yves Auquier dedicated Pays noir to the region where he grew up. The photographer treats with realism its scenery and its inhabitants. A familiar country whose ordinariness reaches the beauty, sublimated by the black and white. The blacks are deep and the contrasts between the light and dark parts of the image bring the luminosity that veils a sky full of beautiful clouds, in homage to the wonderful smoke described by Jules Destrée.
