This book seeks to slow the reader down as they navigate the shattered glass trying to not get blood on their hands. Or maybe they are already bathed in it? A contemplation of one’s own choices, ideas to ponder on while rearranging the broken glass and attempting to understand the images. As you tear the red string, what’s left over can tie the book back together. And our hands, easy to wash in this world of appearances, are forever stained in blood.
“My phone/laptop that aided this publication is built by slavery. The food/products we buy aids systems of oppression. It is easy to be complacent about the truth that is hidden under the surface. In the world plagued by individual competitiveness it is easy to forget about the freedom of others while achieving our own success. If one’s not careful their hands will quickly be stained in blood, or is it impossible for them to not already be?
We share a vision of a political project on one hand and our individual desire on another. In order to achieve this political project maybe we must subdue our own desires or else the change we need is never going to happen. A dilemma?. The nightmare continues.
The industries we work in, the peoples pockets we fill, the silence and our success intersects with massacres, exploitation, genocide. We create online personas, but do we truly believe in what these represent? We can easily say we want liberation or appear anti-capitalist, it’s trendy. The trending political project is to dismantle the system right, but still we seek to enjoy its privileges. So is the word ‘revolution’ then just used as a commodity? Have we already commodified the struggle? Do we really want this? Does being on the right side of this history require more than a shared post? More than an occasional revolt to silence our conscience guilt.
We tell ourselves that maybe one day things will change. We will learn from humanities hatred, but thats tomorrow. Today this idea of peace and light exists behind this book. In front of it is the reality. The book consist of propaganda images taken from the internet, where the audience is unable to determine who in reality is in the image. They reflect a confused truth from multiple perspectives of terrorists or victims of war.”
