Born in Tokyo in 1939 Hitomi Watanabe at the time of graduating from the Tokyo College of Photography presented a collection of work under the title of “The World of the Saltimbanco”, followed with a publication the next year entitled “Shinjuku Contemporary”. In 1972 she traveled to India and Nepal for the first time and came to gather this experience into her later solo exhibition. Since then she has been actively documenting her mental and physical journeys between Japan and India and after 30 years she here reflects on this body of work.
This book is a book composed of illustrations of India (Tenjiku) recorded for about seven years since 1972.
