This artist's book was created for the exhibition "IS IT FOR REAL ? Jacques Fivel is an artist who belongs to the Copy Art family ; very early on he became interested in the photocopier, diverting it from its primary function of reproduction and using it to create his works in situ. At the end of the 80s, he discovered a highly unusual device: the CHINON DCM-206, which was one of the first photographic fax machines. Although it looked like a rear projector, this machine did not project, but instead recorded movements passing in front of it for ten seconds through its optics and light beam, and then extracted a fax of varying length from its roll, depending on the information captured.

This book, well designed by Tiane Doan Na Champassak, as an instruction manual for this machine, includes "a fax" shooting of two nude models posing on a superb designer armchair.

The texture and weight of the paper, and its transparency, give us the impression of handling original vinyl faxes.
