he 1960s – a turbulent decade. The book begins in the mid-1960s. Numerous life photographs by Hubertus Hierl capture the spirit of young people in the years 1965, 1966, and 1967, before the momentous year of 1968. The images also show the gradual changes, especially in the lives of young people, and illustrate the new self-understanding that emerged from the mid-1960s onward.

Key to this era: The Beatles and Rolling Stones celebrated ever greater triumphs – the hippie movement emerged as a protest against the older generation and the meritocracy. The miniskirt – a defining feature of this time and a defining example of pop culture and youth fashion, a symbol of a new self-image and self-confidence.

The Life photographs from Copenhagen, Saint-Tropez and Munich-Schwabing convey a vivid picture from the mid-sixties with all the emerging changes in the lives of young people.

Softcover, 22 x 28.5 cm, First and limited edition of 250 copies, text in German, black and white photographs, comes with four single original prints (each signed), in very good condition other than very small scratches and stains on both covers. Signed and numbered by Hubertus Hierl.
