Naoya Hatakeyama’s photobook “Lime Works” depicts quarries and the transformed terrains they leave behind, unnatural and almost alien in appearance, along with other environmental effects of limestone extraction.

The way I see it, there are as many worlds as acts of vision. We have bit one planet to serve as our physical environment, and there’s no way of increasing its area. so we need emocratic governance to control its use. Through advances in telecommunications and transport we continually narrow the psychic dimensions of the globe. On the other hand, a deepening recognition of the multiplicity of worlds posited by the ideology of visions acts to expand them. In my imagination, three orbs throb in unison: the earth, the brain and the eyeball. Naoya Hatekeyama.
