When Salgado turns his gaze to the world of manual labor, it is to reveal its harsh realities and to find, behind the brutality of the working-class or peasant conditions, the grandeur of humankind at work. This volume, complete with fold-outs and a booklet, shows us the daily lives and dignity of these workers.

This book is a tribute to workers, a farewell to a whole world that is gradually disappearing, a tribute to those men and women who still work with their hands, as they have done for centuries. Salgado (text in the book in French)

Hardcover with illustrated dust jacket, 33.5 x 25 cm, First French edition, text in French, black and white photographs, including a booklet written by Salgado. In very good condition other than a few scuffs on the jacket and double adhesive marks on the inside cover's pages (see picture). Nicely signed and inscribed by Sebastiao Salgado.
