Shibuya, home to one of the world’s most famous street crossings and heart of Japan’s contemporary culture. For his series “Tokyo Heat Wave,” Nobuhiko Suzuki (b. 1968) took nightly snapshots on the streets of Shibuya between the years 2000 and 2018, two years before the Corona Pandemic put a temporary stop on Shibya’s liveliness, chaos and creativity.
In movie-like portraits and group shots, Suzuki focuses on the eclectic fashion, the glitz and kitsch, the rule-breaking and the creative conformism that drives the atmosphere of this ever-exciting part of the city.
